What does MIPCOM 2017 have in store for us in Cannes?

The world’s top audiovisual content tradeshow

The largest international tradeshow for audiovisual content will be held in Cannes from 16 to 19 October 2017. Each autumn, thousands of delegates, companies and buyers from over 100 countries, along with many television & film directors and the stars who grace our TV screens, converge on Cannes to create a new world of content. This year, Mipcom 2017 will play host to 2000 exhibitors as well as new country pavilions for Chile, New Zealand, Morocco, the Philippines, Russia and Japan.

The 2017 exhibition in a few figures.

More than 14,000 professionals, from 108 countries, including 4,900 buyers, including 1,500 buyers for digital platforms.
2,000 exhibitors within the Palais des Festivals de Cannes, with new country pavilions from Chile, New Zealand,  Morocco, the Philippines, Russia and Japan.
500 Japanese professionals representing more than 100 Japanese companies in the context of a highlight on Japan.
7 premiere screenings, also open to the Cannes’ public.

Series spotlight.

The world premiere of 'Britannia' the new original series and the first co-production between Sky and Amazon US, will be screened to all the delegates of Mipcom 2017, on Monday, 16 October AND in the presence of the series’ creators and actors. This historical series in 9 episodes, with a cinematographic feel, takes place in the year 43 AD, at the time when Britannia is a country is led by powerful druids and warrior queens. With its 5,500 hours of production, this series is the most ambitious project ever undertaken by Sky.

MIPJunior

MIPJunior, the showcase of children’s programming will screen the world premiere of 'Thomas and his friends: Big World! Big Adventures!’, an animated series, produced and distributed by Mattel Creations. Traditionally reserved for the launch of new programmes, MIPJunior’s World Premiere TV Screening will this year unveil the new face of an animated cartoon that is already famous throughout the world. This rework of the great classic is scheduled to be aired in 2018. The delegates of MIPJunior will be among the first to discover the new version of Thomas and his friends. The screening on Saturday 14 October 2017, at 6pm, will be interspersed with many surprises,  and will be followed by the opening gala evening of MIPJunior.
