CANNES VIRTUAL EVENTS The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès rolls out its hybrid events offer

The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès rolls out its hybrid events offer.

The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is deploying a new digital strategy. It places innovation and technology at the heart of its new arrangements and offers an event format combining the best of the real and virtual worlds with the aim of maintaining physical encounters while developing new digital solutions to prepare an offer adapted to new event formats. With the launch of a new 3D solution operated by Laval Virtual, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès offers a concrete package for even more effective hybrid events.

"2020, marked by the global health crisis, has profoundly and permanently transformed the event sector. Cannes, a leading business destination, has a proven track record of organising events and is working hard to launch new initiatives. Hybrid events have become an indispensable alternative to encourage the return of live, in-person trade shows. Today, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is ready to support and work with its customers in renewing the formats of their events." David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes

Hybrid and virtual events for more audiences and new customers
Anxious to provide the best possible offer, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is accelerating its digitalisation, not to move to 100% virtual, but to bring real added value to physical events:
- Offer organisers who cannot hold their event for health reasons, an alternative to keep their brand very much alive and animate their community
- Increase, rejuvenate and diversify audiences for events held live and in-person in Cannes for greater competitiveness
- Host new virtual events to convert them into in-person live events

Cannes Virtual Events, a virtual extension of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès
The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes and Laval Virtual, a key player in virtual reality, have entered into a strategic partnership for the creation, marketing and management of a virtual world for hosting new trade shows, conferences, corporate conventions... This new event space called "Cannes Virtual Events" will respond to all customer requests to offer a different yet complementary experience to that of physical events. Laval Virtual, an association founded in 1999, specialises in the uses of immersive and interactive technologies, and each year organises the world's largest international salon in the field of virtual and augmented reality.

Building on the Virbela solution, Laval Virtual operates an innovative platform that reproduces the environment of a physical event and offers participants an interactive, authentic experience, allowing them to move around this 3D world, dialogue orally with participants, make presentations on all kinds of media (promotional video, brochures, PowerPoint etc), make appointments and so on.

"The virtual worlds we have been operating for the past year are currently based on one of the most successful solutions for large-scale events, such as those held in the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes. We have tested this solution since last April by organising more than 80 events of varying sizes”, explains Laurent Chrétien, Managing Director of Laval Virtual.

A first in France in the world of trade shows and conferences
This partnership between the Palais des Festivals and Laval Virtual is a real first for the trade show and convention industry.
This makes the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes the first Convention and Exhibition Centre to have a 3D environment offering configurations close to reality.
It offers organisers an original format for events: more innovative, bolder and more sustainable.
A real message of hope for Conference Centres, whose activity has been heavily impacted in recent months.

"We are proud to offer our customers this new service and support them towards hybrid events, offering innovative, sustainable solutions to increase the audience at events." Jean-Michel Arnaud, President of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes
