For the third year running, Cannes has been voted ‘World’s Best Destination for Festivals and Events 2024’ at the World Travel Awards, the Oscars of tourism. As the only French destination to compete with such iconic cities as Barcelona, Dublin, London, Singapore, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and Venice, Cannes has confirmed its status as the world’s leading events destination.
This recognition, awarded on Sunday 24 November 2024 at the Grand Final Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards in Funchal (Madeira), crowns an exceptional 2024 activity, thanks to the quality and diversity of its events, both professional and cultural.
This momentum is reflected in the hotel occupancy figures, which show growth of 4% from May to September 2024, compared with 2023 (source: Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur). The growth of the event industry in Cannes is a driving force behind the tourist economy, creating wealth and jobs, with more than €1 billion in direct and indirect economic spin-offs generated by the activity of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes.
This third world title builds on its previous European successes, with the title of Best European Destination for Festivals and Events from 2021 to 2024.
It’s a success built on the satisfaction of the organisers, the public, the professionals, the partners and the people of Cannes, who have all rallied round to make this event a success.
