Winter games on La Croisette for the 34th International Games Festival

34th International Games Festival.

The stars of the world of games are coming to La Croisette!

The wonderful world of games is coming to Cannes from the 21st to the 23rd February 2020!

The International Games Festival is the largest French-speaking entertainment event and is expecting more than 110,000 festival goers this year, from passionate competitors to those who are just curious to find out more. The Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès will be transformed into a huge 30,000 m2 games board, with some of the big names of the industry, as well as publishers and new companies hoping to present their prototypes, new creations and long-standing successes!

France is at the cutting edge of the world of games

With more than 1,000 new games on the market every year, France can be proud to have become the leader of the world of games, in the space of just a few years. There is now a game for everyone, whatever their age and tastes: new and traditional board games, role-play games and figurines, trading card games, escape games, toys, arts and crafts, video games and virtual reality, and much more. There are more and more innovations in the world of games, for family board games that are easy to understand and quick to play, or more complicated games intended for more experienced players. One thing they all have in common is that they are all a part of this leisure activity that really brings people together.

An event for people of all ages

The Cannes International Games Festival owes its success over the years to its dual identity: that of an innovative professional trade show, showcasing the cutting edge of the games industry, and that of an event open to the general public, attracting over 111,000 festival goers. For the passionate visitors to this festival, it is an event for people of all ages, full of brand-new discoveries : be the first to discover the new games of the year, test new games that are still in the development phase, along with their authors and illustrators, find out which games are the new best sellers, meet some of the well-known gamers participating in the tournaments, and above all, to be a part of these three days and try out the huge range of fun activities with friends or family.

A dynamic programme of events

From the 20th February, professional meetings will take place over the four days, to present new promising projects, general meetings for professional federations will be held here, as well as conferences, workshops, private showrooms, special evenings called “off nights” where you can test out prototypes of new games not yet on the market, and also initiatives such as “Protolab” where visitors have the opportunity to meet some talented authors who have not yet had a chance to make a name for themselves.

Golden Ace Ceremony 2020

A festival wouldn’t be a festival without an awards ceremony. The Golden Ace Prize for 2020 will be awarded on Thursday 20th February at 7pm and will mark the opening of the International Games Festival, in the presence of the prize-winning publishers and authors. The nominated and winning games (three categories: general public, children and expert) will be highlighted throughout the event on a special stand and on the stands of the award-winning publishers.

Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd February 2020 from 10am to 7pm

Free access via 2 entrances: “general public” & “families with children” zones

The doors will close 1 hour before the closing time
