The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is committed to the GBAC STAR™ accreditation programme, the international benchmark for health security

The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is committed to the GBAC STAR™ accreditation programme, the international benchmark for health security.

The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is redoubling its vigilance in the face of the global health crisis and preparing to bounce back. After obtaining the "Health Security Label" and "Ecovid Label" from SOCOTEC, it is currently implementing the strictest protocols in terms of cleaning, disinfection and prevention of infectious diseases within its establishment. As the first convention centre in France to announce its commitment to obtain GBAC STAR™ accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council*, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès wishes to increase its attractiveness and reassure its international clients.

"You have to reconcile economy and health reliability to relaunch activity as quickly as possible in a sustainable manner. The know-how of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès has been recognised for the professionalism of its teams for decades right across the world. It has since overcome numerous challenges by constantly adapting to changes in our world. Cannes City Hall has also been doing everything possible since the start of the epidemic to protect the public and secure economic activity. A flagship of event activity in France, it contributes much to the country's influence abroad and the resumption of its activity is essential to the survival of the economic fabric of our region and beyond. We are ready to welcome the world as we always have done, and to do so in complete health security."
David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes

Based on a wealth of positive experience in event organisation, come what may, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès has proved since September that it’s possible to reconcile economic activity and public health protection.

Today, it’s taking its health security systems up another notch with GBAC STAR™*, the only accreditation in the cleaning industry for the prevention, intervention and reconditioning of its equipment in the event of epidemics.

As such, alongside GBAC STAR™, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is committed to:
- establish protocols and procedures;
- follow training provided by experts;
- have the level of preparedness assessed in the face of biological risk situations;
- implement best practices to prepare, react and resume activity in the event of epidemics or pandemics;
- and finally, guarantee to employees, customers and major stakeholders that effective systems will be implemented to maintain a clean and healthy working environment.

The certification process is scheduled to complete by the end of January 2021, after validation of the twenty key elements of the programme by GBAC STAR™. This includes standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies, personal protective equipment, as well as emergency preparedness and response measures.
