"Cannes is still standing" A united and dynamic destination, to be discovered through music.

The city of Cannes has successfully managed to overcome the health crisis thanks to the mobilisation of all stakeholders within the destination. The Palais des Festivals channelled this overflowing energy and desire to bounce back through a 100% Made-in-Cannes musical and choreographed performance. And what better way to convey our message of hope than through Elton John's famous song "I'm Still Standing"?

A solidary creation to celebrate the Cannes destination

As a city with global reach and the number one business-tourism destination in France after Paris, Cannes has been deeply affected by the global pandemic. In this difficult period, the teams of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and all socio-economic stakeholders in Cannes came together to make this exceptional achievement a reality. Restaurateurs, hoteliers, beach attendants, caterers, and incoming, incentive and events agencies threw themselves into their performance as they sang and danced to the music of Elton John.

The music used for this video was recorded by the group Galactica, with Shiny and Shiny Gospel and the singer C-Vici. The Cannes Philharmonic Orchestra have come together with these 35 musicians to offer a new and unexpected dimension to the piece, adding a touch of modernity to its score composed of passages that are both bewitching and energetic.

Cannes dance schools – the Pôle National Supérieur de Danse Rosella Hightower, the Diamond School and the La Sauce de Break The Floor – developed the project and offered it its captivating visual material for a high-quality and professional rendition.

In total, this music video required nearly a month of preparation and a week of shooting in June 2021.


"I'm still standing": a timeless song that truly speaks to Cannes

In 1983, Elton John chose Cannes to direct his music video and make his musical comeback with his famous track: "I'm Still Standing"!

38 years later, Cannes – an emblematic city for both tourism and events – serves as a the symbol of a world that has resisted and has the will to survive after the crisis. Cannes is still standing! Cannes aims to bring this message of hope to the entire industry. It has always been Cannes that has offered talents the means with which to express themselves!
