Cannes is the first town in France in which the conference centre has obtained the security management certification (ISO 18788)

Awarded the Securi-Site label since label January 2019, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes obtained ISO 18788 certification in November 2019 from the independent body, APAVE. The result of a heightened town security policy in effect for 10 years, this is the first certified conference centre in France

An efficacy requirement

Obtaining this certification is the aim of an individual approach conveying the voluntary policy and the commitment of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in terms of security. ISO 18788 attests to the quality of the security management system and the efficacy of an establishment’s security operations. The means assessed involve :

  • Providing an organizational management framework for activities and risks, intended for the bodies carrying out or sub-contracting security operations.
  • Demonstrating professional conduct in security operations in order to satisfy clients and all stakeholders.
  • Proving commitment to the legal obligations and best practices listed.
  • Constantly offering services that meet the needs of clients and that comply with international, national and local law as well as with Human Rights requirements.

An asset for competitivity

A strategic priority, linked in particular to the national and international setting, safety and security is today one of the destination’s indicators of professionalism and sets it apart from the competition. ISO 18788 completes the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès’ quality approach, certified with the international standards ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety), ISO 26000 (corporate responsibility), the Securi-Site label, and the recent commitment alongside the town of Cannes, the pilot for ISO 20121 “responsible international destination” certification.

These commitments are the reflection of the priorities and values of the Société d'Economie Mixte pour les Evénements Cannois and the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes in its everyday management of events, and more globally of the site’s activities.

For David LISNARD, Mayor of CannesThis certification comes within the town’s actions in terms of security. Cannes has the densest CCTV network in France, with 642 cameras. We were the first Town in France to implement a communal Terrorist Risk prevention plan as of 2016. In Cannes, a global village, all the new layouts are considered so as to best protect the people of Cannes, conference delegates and visitors. We are proud that this standard has been obtained by the SEMEC, making the Palais des Festivals the first certified conference centre in France”.
